are you a French girl living in London or an english girl?

How did you heard about Davide, as he's not known in the UK yet?

I am English and live in London.

I can read and write in French a little. (I read better than I write!)

I visit Paris at least once a month (next trip is to see Garou in a few weeks).

I am not sure how I found out about Davide - maybe he was a friend of a friend on myspace.

But I liked his voice so I bought the cd which I love listening to.

A French friend has been lucky enough to see Davide in Paris a few times and always takes photos and sends me a report. One day I will be in Paris when he is performing. (I always seem to be there the week before!).

My favourite singers are Josh Groban, Il Divo (I blame Seb for introducing me to all the French singers), Patrick Fiori, Patrick Bruel, Garou, Bruno Pelletier, Frederic Lerner, all of the cast of 'Le roi soleil'. I love watching the dvds of 'Les enfoires'. Yannick Noah is a favourite of mine (I saw him playing tennis at Wimbledon) and it was lovely to see him as the special guest at Christophe Mae's concert last month at Zenith.

I am a fan of musicals and travel all over the world to see shows. 'Cabaret' at Folies Bergere was amazing - I knew Fabian Richard before he was the emcee (from 'Chance!') - and I can say I have danced on stage at Folies Bergere (7 times despite Fabian promising he would never drag me onstage after the first time!).

I saw 'Fame!' in Paris on my birthday and then at the official first night.

I travelled to Lyon in January with UK friends to see 'Dracula' which was amazing.

I love 'Romeo et Juliette' and hope it returns to Paris next year. I saw 'Notre dame de Paris' with Laurent Ban, Richard Charest and Marilou. (I saw the London show with Garou, Bruno and Daniel as well).

And 'Un violin sur le toit' with Frank Sherbourne.

I wish I could have seen 'Starmania' live as I love all the music.

I adore Piaf, Jaques Brel and Claude Francois as well.

I managed to watch Davide in the the recent tv show with Helene singing 'Senza una donna'.

So I just love music whatever the language is - even if I don't understand it.

I think we in the UK are getting used to listening to music from other countries - Il Divo, Alessandro Safina and Mario Frangoulis are all very popular. And Josh Groban sings in French and Italian - we call it either 'crossover music' or 'popera' - not quite pop or opera.

I know Garou and Bruno are quite well known here from when they were in London in 'Notre Dame de Paris' - with the amazing Steve Balsamo as Phoebus.

And Zazie performed in London a few months ago.

The Eurostar is an amazing way to travel - its often easier for me to see a show in Paris than at Wembley.

I have been listening to Garou's new cd in English - amazing. Really looking forward to seeing him in Paris in a few weeks.

Hi Eli !!

I was talking only about french singers that, for most of them are not very popular outside France, Belgium and Switzerland (french speaking countries), be sure that I know what I'm talking about.
Italian and German singers for example are more up to travel outside their countries for success, this is weird but this is the way it is. That's why it is always interesting to hear who's popular elsewhere.

That's why I found it great you travel so much to come and see french singers (well canadian for Garou Laughing

) in concert in Paris !!! that is really great but must end up being so expansive Exclamation

I wanted to go to London to see Bon Jovi's concert soon but the train + the concert ticket = too expansive Crying or Very sad

Apologies but I speak no German at all - but I can read it. So yes I love Garou as well.

Laure - I can tell you that all of the 'Le roi soleil' performers are quite well known here - I saw the last show at Bercy with French, UK and Swedish friends. And my Swedish friends and I saw Manu at Casino de Paris and Christophe at Zenith.

And Jerome Pradon is a really well known performer in London - both on stage and tv.

Laurent Ban did a concert in Cardiff last April - I didn't go as I was in Paris to see Christophe Cerino and Roch Voisine.

Of course Edith Piaf is really well known in the UK along with the rest of the world - I was so pleased when Marion won the Oscar for 'La Mome' (although in the UK they renamed the dvd 'La vie en rose').
